Yeoju City Breaks Ground on "Yeoju Elementary School Complex"
Total Project Cost: 33.5 Billion Won; Completion Targeted for Second Half of 2027
Equipped with Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, and Care Spaces
Yeoju City in Gyeonggi Province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the "Yeoju Elementary School New Replacement Relocation School Complex Facility" at the Yeoju Station area Yeoju Elementary School relocation site (646-1 Gyodong, Yeoju City) on the 22nd and officially commenced construction.

The event was attended by over 100 people, including Lee Chungwoo, Mayor of Yeoju City; Kim Sangseong, Superintendent of Yeoju Office of Education; Park Dohyung, Chairman of Yeoju City Council, along with city council members, officials from Korea Asset Management Corporation and the construction company, Yeoju Elementary School community members, principals from local schools, and nearby residents, who celebrated the groundbreaking of this shared complex for both the school and the community.
The Yeoju Elementary School complex is a project aimed at improving the educational environment and enhancing the welfare of local residents. It will provide students with comfortable spaces for learning and sports, while also being open to residents as a venue for lifelong learning, community sports, and cultural activities.
A total project budget of 33.5 billion won will be invested, including 18.2 billion won from the Yeoju City budget. The complex will have a total floor area of 6,774 square meters, with one basement level and four above-ground floors, and will feature various facilities such as a swimming pool, a large lecture hall, care spaces, a gymnasium, and a makerspace.
Yeoju City aims to complete construction by the second half of 2027, and once finished, the facility is expected to become a leading center for education, sports, and culture in the Yeoju Station area.
In his commemorative address, Mayor Lee Chungwoo emphasized, "The Yeoju Elementary School complex will be more than just an educational facility; it will be an open space where children and local residents can learn and enjoy together." He added, "We will continue to do our utmost to expand the living infrastructure for the future of Yeoju's citizens and children."
The school complex facility, which broke ground on this day, is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2027.
