Busan Shipbuilding and Marine Companies Succeed Overseas with Strong Support Behind Them

National Pukyong University Supports RISE Project's 'Global Order Promotion Team'
KOSTEC Shipbuilding & Marine Signs Letter of Intent with Philippine Company

National Pukyong University has achieved results in supporting Busan's shipbuilding and marine companies to enter overseas markets.

National Pukyong University (President Bae Sanghoon) announced on the 23rd that on the 22nd, it held a 'Korea-Philippines Letter of Intent (LOI) Signing Ceremony' at Hall 4 of BEXCO Exhibition Center II in Busan.

On this day, a letter of intent was officially signed between Busan-based shipbuilding and marine company KOSTEC Shipbuilding & Marine Co., Ltd. and Philippine shipbuilding company MEGASHIP BUILDERS INC. This signing ceremony marks the achievement of the 'Global Order Promotion Team,' operated by National Pukyong University as part of the Busan-type RISE project, in pioneering overseas markets.

Busan Shipbuilding and Marine Companies Succeed Overseas with Strong Support Behind Them On the 22nd, a memorandum of understanding signing event between Korea and the Philippines took place.

This signing ceremony, held as part of the 2025 International Shipbuilding & Marine Industry Exhibition (KORMARINE), was attended by Ha Myungshin, Vice President for External Affairs of National Pukyong University and Head of the RISE Project Group; Oh Euntaek, Mayor of Nam-gu, Busan; Lee Junghwan, Chairman of the Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Engineering Cooperative (KOSEC); and officials from the Busan Marine Engineering Industry Association, among others, who celebrated the event.

This contract is a tangible outcome of the 'Korea-Philippines Shipbuilding and Marine Mobility Cooperation Forum' held in Cebu, Philippines, in September. At that time, National Pukyong University, Nam-gu District Office, and KOSEC established a collaborative network with the Philippine Navy and MARINA (Maritime Industry Authority), laying the groundwork for overseas orders. This led to a concrete contract, culminating in the signing ceremony at KORMARINE 2025.

Following this LOI signing, National Pukyong University plans to strengthen the activities of its 'Global Order Promotion Team,' centered on specialized personnel, to further support overseas expansion of companies based at Yongdang Campus, including KOSEC. Nam-gu District Office in Busan has also committed to contributing to the globalization of the local marine industry by expanding administrative support and international exchanges.

Vice President Ha Myungshin stated, "The combination of Busan's marine industry technology and National Pukyong University's innovative capabilities is providing practical support for local small and medium-sized enterprises to enter overseas markets," adding, "Through the RISE project, we will actively support the expansion of global cooperation networks and the pioneering of new markets for local companies."
