At IBK Chamber Hall, Seoul Arts Center on October 23
Pianist Kim Dasol will hold a solo recital titled "A Night of Chopin" on October 23 at the IBK Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center, featuring works by the Romantic master Chopin.
Kim Dasol is set to perform the Polonaise-Fantaisie, which represents Chopin's late style, the Piano Sonata No. 3 that blends lyricism and passion, and the Ballade No. 3, noted for its poetic melodic beauty. In addition, he will showcase delicate emotion and inner reflection through Nocturne No. 8 (Op. 32-2), Nocturne No. 10 (Op. 27-2), and the Etude "Cello" (Op. 25-7). The recital will conclude with the Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, which combine dazzling technique with structural perfection.
Kim Dasol has distinguished himself by winning major international competitions such as the Nagoya International Music Competition in Japan, the Tongyeong Isang Yun International Competition, the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in the United States, the Epinal International Piano Competition in France, and the Kissingen KlavierOlymp International Piano Competition in Germany. He has also received prizes at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium, the Geneva Competition in Switzerland, and the ARD Competition in Munich.
Kim Dasol has performed with world-renowned orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, earning acclaim for his original interpretations and mature musical vision. Notably, from 2016 to 2022, he successfully completed a project performing the complete Beethoven piano sonatas, demonstrating his depth of thought and insight as a musician, beyond mere technical prowess.
Chopin stands at the pinnacle of 19th-century Romantic piano music, elevating the piano to its most poetic and intimate form through his delicate lyricism and innovative harmonies.
