Goseong Engineering and DDE Unveil AI Drone for the First Time
Launching an Initiative to Enter the 32 Trillion Won Global Defense Drone Market
An elderly person sitting in a smart chair senses something might be wrong inside the house and says, "Check the interior." In response, a drone takes off and autonomously navigates the indoor space to investigate. Upon detecting a fire, the drone relays this information to a mobile robot. The robot picks up a fire extinguisher with its arm, heads to the fire, and puts it out. Once the fire is fully extinguished, the smart chair enters the room. This scene, where multiple artificial intelligence (AI) devices respond to a person's voice and work together to solve a problem, is not a vision of the distant future. It was an actual demonstration held on October 23 at Korea's largest electronics and IT exhibition, the Korea Electronics Show (KES 2025). The star of the event was Goseong Engineering, a robotics specialist that set up its booth right next to major corporations such as Samsung and LG.
Choi Changshin, CEO of Goseong Engineering, stated on this day, "The autonomous swarm AI showcased at this exhibition is the first of its kind to be made public in Korea." Founded in 2004, Goseong Engineering has built its competitiveness in the field of factory automation solutions. Since 2018, the company has ventured into robotics, developing related solutions, and at the beginning of this year, it expanded into the mobility sector, securing AI drone technology. CEO Choi explained that this exhibition was significant because it demonstrated a model in which swarm AI receives voice commands from humans and autonomously perceives, makes decisions, and executes actions.

Goseong Engineering collaborated with domestic AI startup DDE to present this technology. What drew particular attention was a small drone that recognized objects indoors and autonomously flew to self-generated coordinates using only a vision camera, without GPS signals. Goseong Engineering acquired AI technology from DDE that enables location and direction detection even in environments where GPS signals are blocked. The company believes that this technology, which overcomes GPS jamming, will demonstrate even more advanced capabilities in outdoor offline environments. CEO Choi said, "From a technological growth perspective, we aim to become a solution provider that covers both indoor and outdoor environments, offering solutions without spatial limitations."
The reason Goseong Engineering, which has been active in the fields of automation equipment and robot system integration, is focusing on AI drone technology is because drone systems are emerging as a core element of global security and a central component of weapons systems, raising expectations for their broad application in the defense industry in the future. CEO Choi explained, "While our previous automation and robotics businesses aimed for indoor autonomy, drones represent a move toward a broader scope of autonomy that extends outdoors."

The market outlook is also promising. According to the market research firm MarketsandMarkets, the global military drone market is estimated to reach 15.8 billion dollars this year, up 3.74% from last year, and is expected to grow at an average annual rate of about 7.6% over the next five years, expanding to 22.81 billion dollars (approximately 32 trillion Korean won) by 2030. President Lee Jaemyung has also expressed his commitment to fostering small and medium-sized enterprises and startups in the defense sector. On this day, key figures from Luxembourg's economic and industrial sectors visited the booth to monitor AI drone industry technology, indicating strong potential for global market expansion. CEO Choi emphasized, "We will secure our competitiveness in a market projected to grow to 32 trillion won and lay the foundation for new growth by building a global network."
