- Expanded to Five Divisions with Addition of Coaches Division, Elevated to MA (Master) Group
- Approximately 1,200 Players and Amateurs Participate, Bringing Vibrant Energy to Jinju
Global premium mattress brand Sealy Korea (CEO Yoon Jonghyo) has successfully concluded the 8th Sealy Korea Open National Amateur Tennis Tournament.
Jointly hosted by Sealy Korea, the Korea Tennis Association (KTA), and the Jinju Tennis Association, this tournament was held over four days-September 27 and 28, and October 18 and 19-at Namgaram Tennis Court and various locations throughout Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province. Approximately 1,200 amateur tennis players from across the country showcased their skills, and the presence of their families and friends brought vibrant energy to Jinju during the event.
This year, the tournament expanded from four to five categories, adding the Coaches Division to the existing Gaenari Division, Men's Open Division, National Rookie Division, and Gukhwa Division. All matches were played as doubles, and winners in each category received a variety of prizes and cash awards, including 'Chabre' mattresses. In addition, all participants, regardless of their results, were given generous souvenirs such as hotel-style cotton pillows, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Since its inaugural event in 2016, the Sealy Korea Open National Amateur Tennis Tournament has steadily grown. In 2018, it was promoted to an official KTA ranking tournament, further establishing its prestige. In 2022, the tournament expanded its scope by introducing the Sealy Korea Cup National Senior Tennis Tournament for players in their 60s and 70s. Notably, starting this year, the tournament has grown to five divisions and has been elevated from the IN (International) Group to the MA (Master) Group, marking its status as a higher-level competition.
Yoon Jonghyo, CEO of Sealy Korea, stated, "It is especially meaningful that the Sealy Korea Open National Amateur Tennis Tournament, now in its eighth year, has been elevated to the MA (Master) Group. I am delighted that this event has brought new energy to the Jinju region." He added, "We will continue to expand resources so that amateur tennis players nationwide can enjoy rewarding experiences, and we will persist in our diverse ESG initiatives for the local community and recreational athletes."
Meanwhile, Sealy Korea continues to host and sponsor nationwide tennis tournaments to promote and broaden the base of recreational sports.
