Naver Introduces Gyeongju to APEC Foreign Visitors with 'Birocal Week' Campaign

Introducing Gyeongju’s Local Shops through Multilingual Naver Map

On October 22, Naver announced that it will conduct the "Birocal Week" campaign centered around Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju to introduce the city’s unique culture and characteristics to foreign visitors in celebration of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.


Birocal Week is a campaign designed to help foreign visitors coming to Gyeongju during the APEC period experience the city’s culture and distinctive features. Through Naver’s services, foreign visitors will be assisted in visiting historical sites, tourist attractions, and local shops.

Naver plans to introduce more than 30 local establishments-including restaurants, cafes, and workshops located along Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju-through multilingual versions of Naver Map in English, Chinese, and Japanese. The Birocal Week campaign will run for one week, from October 25 to 31.


Some local shops participating in Birocal Week will pilot the use of "Naver Pay (Npay) Connect," Naver Pay’s integrated offline terminal. The "Birocal Week" Clip Creator Challenge, which highlights hidden restaurants and alleyways in Gyeongju, including Hwangridan-gil, will also take place from October 25 to 31.


Additionally, starting October 23, the "Flying View 3D" feature-which renders landmarks in three dimensions-will be introduced on Naver Map, allowing users to view the areas surrounding Gyeongju’s historical sites in a more immersive way. For the first time, when users search for "Gyeongju" on Naver Map, the new AI-powered "Discovery Feed" will recommend popular local spots, restaurants, cafes, and activities.


Meanwhile, Naver CEO Choi Sooyoun will visit the campaign site in Gyeongju during the APEC period to meet with local small business owners.


CEO Choi stated, "As the APEC Summit, which is drawing global attention, is being held in Gyeongju-a city rich in history-I hope this campaign will give foreign visitors more opportunities to discover local value and experience Gyeongju’s unique culture and characteristics. Naver will continue to support the spread of local diversity and value."
