Hwang Kyunga, a member of the Gwangju Nam-gu Council who has announced her intention to run for Nam-gu District Mayor in next June's nationwide local elections, will hold a publication ceremony for her book "Tomorrow is Nam-gu," which reflects her legislative achievements and personal life.
According to Hwang Kyunga on October 21, the publication ceremony for "Tomorrow is Nam-gu," which details her tenure as a council member, will be held at 10 a.m. on October 25 at the Hosim Hall Grand Auditorium of Gwangju University.
The publication event will proceed in the following order: an author signing session, a congratulatory performance, author introduction and greeting, introduction of guests, congratulatory remarks, a conversation with the author, and commemorative photography.
Hwang is a local politician who has served as a member of the 7th, 8th, and 9th Nam-gu Councils. During her legislative career, she was the chairperson of the first half of the 9th Nam-gu Council and the operations committee chairperson of the 7th Nam-gu Council, earning praise for her leadership in cooperation and communication. She currently serves as the Chairwoman of the Women’s Committee of the Gwangju City branch of the Democratic Party of Korea, Vice-Chairwoman of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Executive Director of the Basic Society Association.
Her book is divided into eight sections, including: "The Story of That Winter," which recounts events after the declaration of martial law last year; "The New Strength of Nam-gu! Hwang Kyunga" and "Fulfilling the Role of Chairperson in the First Half of the 9th Nam-gu Council," which reflect on her experiences as a member of the 7th to 9th Gwangju Nam-gu Councils; "Media Interview Excerpts," highlighting legislative achievements in cooperation and local governance; "2025 Our Nam-gu Village Agendas by District," which presents local agendas for each neighborhood; "Hwang Kyunga’s Time Travel on Foot in Nam-gu," sharing her reflections while walking through the district; and "Tomorrow is Nam-gu," which traces her journey from childhood to becoming a politician.
Hwang stated, "As a council member fulfilling the responsibilities of local government, I have included small episodes and the ordinary yet strong bonds I have formed through communication with residents. I have also expressed my determination to seek solutions for the longstanding wishes of the community that I have experienced firsthand as a council member. I hope you will watch my future challenges with interest."
