Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province, led by County Governor Cho Sangrae, has launched proactive preventive measures to protect farmers, as the risk of safety accidents involving agricultural machinery increases with the start of the full-scale farming season.
The county announced on the 21st that, starting with the Seokgok-myeon traditional market on the 20th, it has been actively promoting the subscription to comprehensive agricultural machinery insurance and conducting a large-scale safety driving campaign.
During this campaign, the county emphasized the importance of comprehensive insurance to prepare for various accidents that may occur while using agricultural machinery. It also distributed promotional materials on safety rules to prevent accidents and provided guidance on compliance requirements. In particular, the campaign focused on promoting basic rules such as prohibiting drunk driving and preventing speeding to ensure safe farming operations and road travel.
On the 23rd and 24th, the county plans to continue the campaign at the Gokseong-eup and Okgwa-myeon traditional markets, together with staff from the township offices.
An official from the Gokseong Agricultural Technology Center stated, "The importance of accident prevention can never be overstated," and added, "Comprehensive agricultural machinery insurance is a crucial means to protect farmers and minimize financial losses after an accident, so we hope farmers will take an interest and subscribe."
The official further commented, "To reduce the main causes of safety accidents, namely inexperienced operation and traffic accidents, we will strictly prohibit drunk driving and encourage people to avoid driving at night as much as possible, in order to create a safer Gokseong."
