Cheongsong County Accepting Applications for 2026 Fruit Production Support Projects

Modernization of FTA High-Quality Fruit Facilities
Seedling Support for Establishing Flat Orchards

Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Yoon Kyunghee) will be accepting applications for three weeks until November 7 for the "2026 FTA Fund High-Quality Fruit Facility Modernization Project" and the "Cheongsong Apple (Gyeongbuk) Flat Orchard Seedling Support Project."

The FTA Fund High-Quality Fruit Facility Modernization Project is implemented annually to prepare for the opening of agricultural imports following the conclusion of Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and to strengthen the competitiveness of the fruit industry.

The eligible applicants are apple, peach, and plum orchards established before December 31, 2024. The main sub-projects include: ▲ variety renewal ▲ irrigation facilities ▲ support structures ▲ wild animal prevention facilities (wire fencing) ▲ windbreak net installations ▲ micro-sprinkler systems ▲ installation of thermal and frost prevention fans, among others.

Notably, starting with the 2026 project, participation in a production and distribution organization established under Cheongsong County's Horticultural Industry Development Plan will become a mandatory requirement. Only management entities with a record of exclusive (contracted) shipment of fruits to Songwon APC or local agricultural cooperatives will be eligible for support.

Applicants without a shipment record may apply by signing a shipment contract at the time of application and committing to ship apples harvested this year.

To apply, applicants must prepare the required documents at their town or township office and then visit the Cheongsong Apple Distribution Center or a local agricultural cooperative to submit their application.

The Cheongsong Apple (Gyeongbuk) Flat Orchard Seedling Support Project provides support for 50% of the seedling purchase cost (up to 7,500 won per tree) needed for the establishment of future-oriented orchards such as high-density, dual-axis, and multi-axis systems.

The planting standard is one tree per pyeong, with a maximum of 1,000 trees per management entity per year. Applications can be submitted through town or township offices.

Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "By supporting seedling costs for the establishment of future-oriented flat orchards such as multi-axis systems, we will reduce the burden on farmers and promote innovation in cultivation systems. Through labor and material cost savings and the production of high-quality apples, we aim to enhance the competitiveness of Cheongsong apples and contribute to increasing farm income."
