Strengthening Payment and Remittance Infrastructure
Travel Wallet, a foreign currency payment fintech company, announced on October 21 that it has signed a business agreement with Crypto.com, a global cryptocurrency platform.
Through this agreement, the two companies will engage in strategic collaboration in three areas: co-branded cards, integration of virtual asset trading services, and a Korean won stablecoin.
Travel Wallet has been designated as Crypto.com's preferred issuing partner in Korea. Customers using the co-branded prepaid card will be able to use both fiat and cryptocurrencies anywhere in the world.
In the future, the companies plan to provide a feature that allows users to trade virtual assets directly within the application, without the need to sign up for a separate exchange.
The service will expand into an integrated digital wallet that enables not only foreign currency top-ups, payments, and remittances, but also the trading, holding, and payment of virtual assets. The goal is to build a global fintech ecosystem that connects foreign exchange and digital assets into a unified experience.
The Korean won stablecoin currently under development by Travel Wallet will be linked to the Crypto.com ecosystem. The two platforms will support mutual circulation and payment of the stablecoin. The company expects this to lay the foundation for the Korean won stablecoin to be widely used in the global digital economy.
Kim Hyungwoo, CEO of Travel Wallet, stated, "This collaboration marks the beginning of a new payment paradigm where fintech finance and blockchain finance converge. Travel Wallet will build an integrated payment ecosystem encompassing foreign currency, virtual assets, and stablecoins, elevating the global competitiveness of Korea's fintech sector."
Eric Anziani, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Crypto.com, commented, "Korea is a rapidly growing fintech market, and Travel Wallet is a highly trusted partner among global travelers. By combining the technological strengths and payment networks of both companies, we will create an environment in which customers can use digital assets more easily and securely, not only when traveling but also in their daily lives."
