Team Pearl Unveils AR Stamp Tour and New VR Work at SXSW Sydney, Showcasing the Presence of K-Content

The convergence art company Team Pearl announced that it is participating in the Art Korea Lab booth, which introduces Korean art companies, at South by Southwest Sydney (hereafter 'SXSW Sydney') from October 15 to 19. SXSW Sydney is the Asia-Pacific spin-off event of SXSW, the world's largest comprehensive content festival, where global big tech companies such as Amazon, Intel, Meta, and Netflix are also operating booths.

At this event, Team Pearl is showcasing a VR work featuring its unique science fiction universe, as well as an AR stamp tour. In particular, the AR stamp tour at the Art Korea Lab booth attracted 500 visitors on the first day alone, drawing attention from global companies including Microsoft. Visitors can join the AR stamp tour by scanning a QR code embedded in a leaflet, and collect stamps by recognizing AR marker images representing Art Korea Lab and participating companies. Those who collect all the stamps receive Art Korea Lab merchandise. Last year, Team Pearl filed domestic and international PCT patents for its web-based AR exhibition method.

In addition, Team Pearl's AR stamp tour features its original IP, the virtual creature 'Peary.' Peary introduces each company, adding an element of fun for visitors with its cute appearance and animations. As visitors collect stamps, they interact with Peary, naturally learning about the companies and taking photos together.

Afterwards, visitors can experience the VR work 'Separium: Across the Border,' immersing themselves in Team Pearl's narrative space.

During the conference presentation, Team Pearl's Visual Director Kim Hyuntae stated, "Whereas technology used to be the focus in the convergence of art and technology, the importance of art itself is now growing." He added, "We provide immersive experiences that expand brand stories from different industries around our own universe. When combined with spatial businesses such as science museums and aquariums, this can create great synergy," expressing his global ambitions.

Meanwhile, based on the Sepafuturism universe, Team Pearl is carrying out convergence art projects with the virtual creature Peary. Following SXSW Sydney, the company plans to unveil its new work for this year at 'Content Universe,' to be held at Goyang Flower Exhibition Hall on October 31.
