City of Ten Million Roses, '2025 Pohang Autumn Rose Festa' Opens on the 25th

Pohang City will host the '2025 Pohang Autumn Rose Festa' at Yeongildae Rose Garden from October 25 to 26, 2025.

This event is a citizen-participation festival where visitors can enjoy the romance of autumn and nature within the city. A variety of programs will showcase Pohang's unique charm under the theme 'The Meeting of the Sea and Roses.'

On the first day, October 25, the festivities will begin with the 'Children's Rose Drawing Contest,' followed by the opening ceremony, an awards ceremony for the rose drawing and rose goods contests, performances by youth clubs and local art groups, and a rose seedling giveaway. These activities are designed to create a festival atmosphere for families to enjoy together.

The Children's Rose Drawing Contest will take place on-site on October 25. Fifty lower-grade (grades 1-3) and fifty upper-grade (grades 4-6) elementary school students will participate, selected in advance through pre-registration. Three external experts will serve as judges on-site, selecting a total of 20 winners: 2 grand prize winners, 4 excellence award winners, 4 encouragement award winners, and 10 honorable mentions. The awards will be presented together with the winners of last month's Rose Goods Design Contest.

At the event venue, there will be an exhibition of Pohang's unique rose varieties (the city's official flower candidates), performances by youth and local art groups, and various experience and promotional booths. In particular, the 'Sea Rose Festival' organized by the Rose Lovers' Association and the 'Tree Sharing Event' hosted by Gyeongbuk Forest for Life will be held in conjunction, creating a comprehensive autumn festival that combines attractions, entertainment, and participatory programs.

On the second day, October 26, hands-on activities such as rose snapshot photography, rose balloon making, and a rose explanation program will continue, attracting families and tourists alike. Yeongildae Rose Garden, now established as Pohang's representative autumn tourist destination, is expected to gain attention as an 'autumn photo spot' in the city.
