Mayor Lee Attends 10th Anniversary of Goyang Wonheung Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Engages with Community
The 29th Senior Citizens' Day commemorative event, hosted by the Goyang City Ilsandong District Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association (Branch President: Jeong Youngju), was held in grand fashion on the 17th, providing a meaningful opportunity to express gratitude and respect for the dedication of the seniors, who are the pillars of society.

Over 300 members of local senior centers and guests attended the ceremony, adding significance to the event. The festivities began with a variety of pre-ceremony performances, including Nanta drumming and choir singing, followed by commendations for distinguished individuals, commemorative speeches, and congratulatory addresses.
In particular, a total of 17 members who have contributed to the improvement of senior welfare, including exemplary seniors and those who have supported senior welfare initiatives, were presented with awards such as the Mayor of Goyang Award, the City Council Chairman Award, the National Assembly Member Award, and the Branch President Award.
In his commemorative speech, Branch President Jeong Youngju stated, "We will never forget the dedication of our seniors, who always set an example as elders of our society," and pledged, "I will do my utmost to ensure that the Korean Senior Citizens Association continues to develop further."
Lee Donghwan, mayor of Goyang Special City, who attended the ceremony, expressed in his congratulatory address, "I would like to extend my gratitude and respect to the seniors who have devoted their lives and become the foundation of our society." Meanwhile, on the following day, the 18th, Mayor Lee attended the 10th Anniversary Ceremony of the Goyang City Wonheung Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, held at the Central Park of Wondaeul Village Complex 1. He highly praised the role of the center, saying, "I sincerely congratulate the center on its 10th birthday, as it has become a vital support for the lives of vulnerable groups." He added, "We will further support Goyang with more comprehensive and compassionate welfare policies so that no one is left behind."

He congratulated the successful hosting of these events, expressed his gratitude to the residents' councils, and spent time communicating with citizens.
