"Signs of Success Despite Autumn Rain"... Jangseong County Kicks Off Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival

"Signs of Success Despite Autumn Rain"... Jangseong County Kicks Off Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival On the 18th, when the Jangseong Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival was held, a large crowd gathered at the local restaurant despite the rain. Provided by Jangseong County, Jeollanam-do

On October 18, the opening day of the Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival in Jangseong County, Jeollanam-do, the festival is already showing signs of success, with many visitors flocking to the local restaurant booths despite the rainy autumn weather.

During the festival, which runs from October 18 to October 26, a total of six popular local restaurants are operating booths at the local restaurant area. Jangseong County has installed a special stage, tents, tables, and seating at the ground golf course to enhance visitor convenience. Guests can bring their ordered food to the plaza and enjoy it while watching performances. As an "eco-friendly festival" that limits the use of disposable products, all food is served in reusable containers. After finishing their meal, visitors are required to return the containers to a designated return station themselves.

Park, who visited Jangseong with a group from Cheonan, shared, "I am very satisfied because I can enjoy delicious food while watching performances."

The festival offers visitors harmonious landscapes of autumn flowers and themed gardens.

Since 2023, Jangseong County has been creating six themed gardens along the Hwangryonggang River as part of the "Local Garden Construction Project." The themes and colors are inspired by the traditional five cardinal colors, with each section featuring: Hwangryong Garden (yellow), Hongdan Garden (red), Cheongbaekri Garden (white), Pureun Mulbit Garden (blue), and Geomeunsup Garden (black). In addition, the "Participation Garden," which preserves the artist, invited, and citizen participation gardens created during the Jeollanam-do Garden Festival in May, has been added.

The Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival venue is divided into five zones based on content. The county has named these zones by taking the first characters from the phrase "Munbulyeojangseong" (meaning "Nowhere is better than Jangseong for learning"), written by Heungseon Daewongun: Munhwahwadamzon, Bulbithwadamzon, Yeyuhwadamzon, Jangteohwadamzon, and Seongjanghwadamzon.

The Munhwahwadamzon, located near the Healing Herb Garden, is a space focused on culture, arts, and exhibitions. It features art displays, chrysanthemum and wildflower bonsai exhibitions, poetry and painting exhibitions, and a rose fragrance exhibition. There is also a garden commentary program available.

The Bulbithwadamzon is located near the outdoor stage of Hwangryong Garden, where the festival's main stage is set up. Here, visitors can fully enjoy the festival's excitement with the opening ceremony and performances by famous singers. There are also miniature art exhibitions and a wooden play area for children.

The Yeyuhwadamzon, near the Munhwa Bridge, is a space for relaxation and healing. The special exhibition "Emptying and Healing" is highly anticipated, offering participants comfort and solace through the process of writing down, erasing, and letting go of emotional burdens.

At the Jangteohwadamzon, as its name suggests, visitors can purchase food from Jangseong's popular restaurants, as well as local specialties and products. This zone is also located at the ground golf course and features street performances and other attractions.

The Seongjanghwadamzon is ideal for families with children. At Hwangmir Land in the upper stream of Hwangryonggang, children's play facilities and a pet playground have been set up, along with booths for hands-on family activities such as Kapla block stacking.

Major events during the festival are also drawing attention. On October 18, the Millennium Symphony Orchestra, a group of 40 musicians, performed music from Studio Ghibli and Disney animations. Other highlights include the J-Light Run, a story-based night running program along the Hwangryonggang River on October 19; the Food Master Exhibition on October 21, featuring food stories and tastings with Master Kim Bonghwa of Jipseongjang from Jangseong and Master Cheon Subong of Hongeo from Naju; rock and blues band performances by Rolling Quartz, Transfixion, Wednesday Off, and Ugrab on October 24; and the "Memory Theater" hosted by comedian Lee Hongryul on October 25.
