On October 18, the Democratic Party of Korea addressed the repatriation of 64 Koreans who had been detained in Cambodia, stating, "We request bipartisan cooperation from the People Power Party," and added, "Measures to prevent further harm and crimes against our citizens and to rescue victims must not be used as a tool for political strife."

Baek Seunga, the party's spokesperson for parliamentary affairs, said in a briefing at the National Assembly that day, "What is needed now is not knee-jerk criticism, but practical diplomacy and security cooperation to protect the lives of our citizens," emphasizing, "There can be no political conflict when it comes to safeguarding the lives and safety of our people."

Spokesperson Baek also stated, "We must actively pursue the dismantling of criminal organizations to rescue the remaining kidnapped Korean nationals overseas and prevent further harm," adding, "The Democratic Party will work with the government to strengthen systems that can respond swiftly to crisis situations involving Koreans abroad, and will make every effort to establish institutional measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents."
