While organizing a film festival themed around the concept of "home," the festival organizers recognized the importance of the sense of stability that living spaces provide. This realization led them to donate the festival proceeds to support stable spaces for youth seeking independence.
The 2025 Setbang Film Festival, which opened with Director Jang Taegu's "What the Clouds Say" (produced by Cantapia Film, distributed by Cine Sofa), was composed of five sections: Family's Room, Youth's Room, Our Neighborhood's Room, Love's Room, and Departure's Room. The festival screened a total of 24 works, including one feature film and 23 short films.
In particular, the opening film "What the Clouds Say" holds special significance as it was produced through the collaboration of a director, production company, and distributor, all based in Busan.
Kwon Jimin, Kim Sunmin, and Lee Haeun, representatives of the 2025 Setbang Film Festival, stated, "Through films set in and themed around homes, we were able to reflect on the importance of stable spaces for youth seeking independence. The theme of the festival aligns with the mission of the Youth Independence Support Center, making this donation even more meaningful."
Director Jang Juhyun of the Busan Youth Independence Support Center (hybrid type) said, "We are grateful for the warm interest and support from the local film festival. This donation will be used carefully to help youth preparing for independence grow up healthily in a stable environment."
The Busan Youth Independence Support Center (hybrid type), operated by Silla University, provides services such as housing, education, employment, and psychological counseling to youth aged 19 to 24 preparing for independence. The center aims to support their economic, social, and psychological independence and help them grow into healthy members of society.
