At Wow Ecological Park, Citizens' Plaza, and Charcoal-Grilled Barbecue Festival Venue
From October 18 to 26
Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Inhwa) announced on October 17 that it will host a series of autumn busking performances featuring local artists, as well as the city's first-ever silent DJ party, to offer citizens and tourists a diverse range of cultural and artistic experiences during the bountiful fall season.
The events will take place throughout Gwangyang, including at Wow Ecological Park, Seocheon Riverside Stage, Charcoal-Grilled Barbecue Festival Venue, and Citizens' Plaza. These festivities are expected to provide a wealth of attractions not only for residents out enjoying the season, but also for visitors attending the 21st Charcoal-Grilled Barbecue Festival, Namdo Film Festival Season 2 Gwangyang, and the Media Art Festival.
Twenty-five teams, selected through an open call last month, will participate in the busking performances, presenting a wide variety of genres such as pop music, vocal music, classical music, traditional Korean music, fusion Korean music, and dance.
The performances will begin at Wow Ecological Park at 2 p.m. on October 18, followed by shows at Seocheon Riverside Stage from 4 to 6 p.m. on October 24 and 26, and on the main stage of the Charcoal-Grilled Barbecue Festival from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on October 25.
Of particular note is the "Silent DJ Party," which will be held at Gwangyang Citizens' Plaza from 3 to 5 p.m. on October 25. The silent DJ party operates by allowing participants to enjoy music through wireless headphones, resolving noise issues while offering an innovative cultural experience in which anyone can freely participate.
This program, planned in conjunction with "Namdo Film Festival Season 2 Gwangyang," aims to bring new enjoyment to film festival visitors and is expected to establish itself as a new form of outdoor cultural activity that can be enjoyed safely and quietly in the heart of the city.
Kim Myungdeok, Director of Culture and Arts, stated, "We hope that tourists, citizens, and local artists alike will find time to recharge under the beautiful autumn sky," adding, "We will continue to expand busking opportunities and work harder to discover and nurture talented local artists."
