About Seventy People, Including Vice Chairman Hong Jeongdo, Participate
Jungang Group recently announced on the 17th that it had carried out a volunteer harvest activity at an apple jujube farm in Baekseok-ri, Paju, Gyeonggi Province, together with the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.
Approximately seventy people participated in the volunteer event, including Jungang Group Vice Chairman Hong Jeongdo, SLL Jungang CEO Yoon Kiyoon, JTBC Head of Management Support Nam Jungkwon, Paju Nonghyup Cooperative President Koo Sunhoe, National Agricultural Cooperative Federation Head of Community Contribution Kim Ilhan, and Paju Deputy Mayor Choi Byunggap. They assisted the farm by working together on various tasks such as harvesting, sorting, and packaging the apple jujubes.
Out of the 230 kg of apple jujubes harvested, 200 kg were donated to the Mapo Welfare Foundation's "Hyo-do Bapsang" program. This public service initiative provides meals to elderly people aged 75 and older who live alone. The donated apple jujubes will be distributed as snacks to approximately 2,200 seniors through fifty-five mobile meal centers.
Since 2020, Jungang Group has continued its "ON (Warmth) Campaign," visiting farms across the country during the busy farming season to provide labor support. In conjunction with the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation's "Volunteer Activities with the People in Rural Communities," the group supported a strawberry farm in Namyangju in the first half of this year. To date, more than 470 employees have participated in these efforts.
Vice Chairman Hong Jeongdo stated, "We are continuing our volunteer activities with the hope that more people will join us in addressing the labor shortage faced by farms," adding, "We hope to provide even a small amount of help to farms and local communities."
