To Be Held at Yeungnam University College on the 25th
Legendary Champions Lee Chunsan, Park Chanhee, and Jang Junggoo to Attend and Cheer On the Fighters
On October 25, the 'WBF Asia-Pacific Welterweight Champion Second Title Defense' boxing match will take place in Daegu.
This event, hosted by the Daegu branch of the Korea Boxing Association, will feature seven open matches, followed by an intense bout for the WBF Oriental title between defending champion Lee Woomin (Yeonggwang County, Jeonnam · Chae Seunggon KO Boxing) and challenger Song Youngbin (Daegu · Suseong Art Siji), a former Korean welterweight champion.
According to the Korea Boxing Association on October 17, Lee Woomin (14 fights, 11 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses), Song Youngbin (11 fights, 8 wins, 3 losses), Kim Jeongpyo, CEO of the Korea Boxing Association, and officials from the Daegu Boxing Association recently checked the preparations at the special ring in Cheonma Gymnasium, Yeungnam University College (Hyeonchung-ro, Nam-gu), the venue for the event.
Lee Sangyoung, General Director of the Korea Boxing Association, said, "Both fighters have excellent stamina and are skilled at managing the match, possessing a well-rounded arsenal of straight punches, hooks, and uppercuts. We expect an explosive match, with each boxer showcasing their signature moves and delivering powerful punches from the opening rounds."
The event will be broadcast live for two hours on the YouTube channel 'Kontu TV' and will also be aired as a recorded broadcast on the sports media outlet SNTV.
The matches on the day will include seven 4-round bouts and one 10-round bout, for a total of eight matches.
This tournament will also feature appearances by legendary boxers such as Park Chanhee (1979 WBC Flyweight Champion) and Jang Junggoo (1983 WBC Light Flyweight Champion) from the 1980s, as well as Lee Chunsan (Super Lightweight), former KBC Korean Champion who was prominent in the 1960s and 1970s. Their presence will provide a unique spectacle, inspiring the audience with the challenging and dynamic excitement of boxing.
Additionally, there will be celebratory performances by local singer Kim Donga from Daegu and actor-singer Jung Ilmo, who played Hong Mangil, a subordinate of Kim Doohan, in the drama 'The Rustic Era.'
