Thai Prime Minister Expresses Support for "END Initiative"

President Lee Jaemyung held his first phone conversation with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on the 16th since taking office, and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including the conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), according to the presidential office.

Kim Namjoon, spokesperson for the presidential office, stated in a written briefing, "The two leaders agreed to actively promote mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as defense industry, digital finance, and infrastructure construction, in order to further deepen and develop the strategic partnership between the two countries." He added, "They also agreed to work together to ensure the early conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which is currently under negotiation."


Additionally, President Lee told Prime Minister Anutin, "We value our relationship with Thailand, a traditional ally that fought alongside us for freedom and peace during the Korean War."


In response, Prime Minister Anutin said, "We support and highly appreciate Korea's policies, including the END Initiative related to easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula and resuming inter-Korean dialogue. We expect President Lee's efforts to contribute to peace in the region and the world." President Lee expressed his gratitude and requested continued support for the Korean government's efforts.
