Wonju City Offers Free Tasting of 500 Servings
Festival Draws Growing Public Interest
Wonju City in Gangwon Province conducted an on-site promotional campaign using the 'Mandu Truck' at the Gangwon Provincial Government building and Cheongnyangni Station on October 15 and 16, in preparation for the successful hosting of the '2025 Wonju Mandu Festival,' which will be held over three days from October 24 to 26.
This campaign was designed as a mobile festival promotion program to ensure that citizens and tourists could naturally encounter news of the festival in their daily lives. The Mandu Truck was wrapped with advertisements introducing the festival schedule, main programs, and venue, drawing the attention of the public.
On October 15, a mandu tasting event was held for provincial government employees and visitors at the Gangwon Provincial Government building. On October 16, a similar event took place at the busy plaza of Cheongnyangni Station, attracting both citizens and tourists and receiving an enthusiastic response.
At the event sites, a free tasting of 500 servings of mandu and a photo zone were prepared, drawing a steady stream of citizens and tourists. As people tasted freshly cooked, warm mandu, their interest in the festival grew, and many expressed their intention to visit Wonju during the festival period.
In particular, the promotional activities at Cheongnyangni Station served as an opportunity to directly inform citizens in the Seoul metropolitan area about the Wonju Mandu Festival. In addition, as citizens who tasted the mandu at the site began planning family visits to the festival, the campaign is expected to have a positive effect on related tourism.
Won Kangsoo, Mayor of Wonju, stated, "Operating the Mandu Truck is a great example of on-site promotional activities that allow people to experience the excitement of the festival in advance. We will continue to carry out new promotional initiatives to establish the Mandu Festival as a signature food festival representing Wonju."
