On October 15, the Hongcheon County Veterans Association (Chairman Choi Haecheol) issued a statement urging the approval of the preliminary feasibility study (hereinafter referred to as the “pre-feasibility study”) for the Yongmun-Hongcheon Metropolitan Railway at Kkotmoe Park in Hongcheon-eup after completing the 'Veterans Day Commemoration Event.' The association then marched through approximately 1 kilometer of downtown Hongcheon.

This event was organized to express the long-standing wish of Hongcheon residents for the realization of the Hongcheon Railway, a project that has been awaited for 100 years. About 120 people, including members of the Veterans Association and veterans' organizations, participated. The participants marched through the city holding banners and placards with the message, "We hope for the approval of the pre-feasibility study for the Yongmun-Hongcheon Metropolitan Railway," calling for the prompt approval of the study and the early commencement of the project.
Chairman Choi Haecheol emphasized, "Hongcheon is a region that has made significant contributions and sacrifices for national security, with several military units stationed here. The Yongmun-Hongcheon Metropolitan Railway must be constructed to improve transportation convenience for residents and soldiers and to promote regional development."
Hongcheon County Governor Shin Youngjae stated, "If residents unite as one, as they did today, the long-cherished dream of bringing the Hongcheon Railway, which has seemed so difficult, will surely come true. I will do my best until the very end to ensure the pre-feasibility study is approved."
