On the afternoon of the same day, when asked by reporters at the Gimpo Business Aviation Center (SGBAC) in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, about the purpose of his trip to the United States, Chairman Choi responded, "There are quite a lot of difficult economic issues." Chairman Choi, along with Lee Jae-yong, chairman of Samsung Electronics; Chung Euisun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group; Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group; and Kim Dong-kwan, vice chairman of Hanwha, will gather at U.S. President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida at the invitation of Masayoshi Son, chairman of SoftBank.
Within and outside the business community, there are expectations that Chairman Choi and others will discuss cooperation on the large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure project "Stargate" with Chairman Son. Additionally, as the timing of the business leaders' visit to the United States overlaps with that of the government officials involved in tariff negotiations, there are also observations that they will provide support for the government's efforts.
Regarding the Supreme Court ruling on his divorce lawsuit, Chairman Choi said, "I have nothing more to say." Earlier in the day, the First Division of the Supreme Court (Presiding Justice Seo Kyunghwan) overturned the lower court's decision in the appeal trial between Chairman Choi and Director Roh, which had ordered Chairman Choi to pay 1.3808 trillion won to Director Roh, and remanded the case to the Seoul High Court. The retrial will recalculate the amount of the property division that Chairman Choi must pay.
