Post-Urban Regeneration Management Project
Resident-Led Village Unity Event
On October 16, Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province held the 'Gwansagol ON - A Place Connecting People and Spaces, Gwansagol' event at the Gwansagol Village Center and its surrounding area.
This event was part of Yeongju City's post-urban regeneration management project, designed to maintain the vitality of the village and promote a resident-led community culture even after the completion of the urban regeneration project.
The event began with an opening address and featured a variety of programs, including performances by local artists, recreational activities bringing together both younger and older generations, and the 'Kungdeokkung Rice Cake Tasting' experience. These activities created an atmosphere of harmony where residents and visitors could come together and interact.
'Gwansagol ON,' as implied by the word 'ON,' is a village revitalization project that opens up spaces and connects relationships. It is regarded as a model case in which residents take the initiative to sustain the village's vitality even after the completion of the urban regeneration project.
A city official stated, "This event demonstrated a sustainable village model, created by residents working together to ensure the community remains vibrant even after urban regeneration. We will continue to implement post-management projects so that this model for revitalizing resident communities can spread to other regions."
Gwansagol is one of Yeongju City's representative Saetteulmaeul project completion areas. Through improvements to aging residential areas, expansion of village infrastructure, construction of the village center, and the establishment of the Gwansagol Cooperative, it has been transformed into a more livable community.
