The county plans to purchase a total of 4,186 tons of rice for public stockpiling this year, including 2,948 tons of bagged rice, 385 tons of wet rice, and 853 tons of flour rice. The varieties to be purchased are Saecheongmu and Sindongjin, and additional purchases of eco-friendly rice will be made if the volume is confirmed.
The purchase period is from October 10 to 31 for wet rice, and from October 30 to December 31 for bagged rice and flour rice. The county provided explanations on changes from last year, the varieties to be purchased, preparations, and guidelines. It also urged farmers to refrain from using old packaging materials and promoted information regarding the variety verification system.
The Gokseong and Gurye offices of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service shared important points that farmers should pay attention to before shipping rice for public stockpiling inspections. They also provided guidance on quality standards, compliance with moisture content requirements for agricultural product inspections, and safety measures to prevent accidents at the purchase inspection sites.
A county official stated, "We plan to promote the 2025 public grain stockpiling rice purchase by providing advance guidance to farmers on the purchase varieties and moisture content, so that the rice they have worked hard to cultivate throughout the year can receive a good evaluation."
