Meeting Held with Provincial Council Members on Pending Projects
Strengthening Cooperation to Reflect Key Regional Initiatives in Provincial Policy
On October 15, the city of Gumi in North Gyeongsang Province held a meeting in the main conference room of City Hall to discuss major pending projects and request provincial funding. The event was attended by eight district council members, the mayor, and about 30 key senior officials.
This meeting was organized to develop response strategies for key regional projects ahead of the deliberation of North Gyeongsang Province’s main budget. It was held at a time when the need for close cooperation between the city and local provincial council members was being emphasized.

During the meeting, participants engaged in broad discussions on Gumi’s major pending projects.
The city shared the necessity and expected benefits of several major initiatives, including attracting the National Museum of Korean History (Gumi Industrialization History Museum), responding to the 'Five Axes, Three Special Zones' national balanced growth strategy, constructing a new bridge connecting phases 1 to 3 of the Gumi National Industrial Complex, building a railway between Gumi and the new airport, attracting the Saemaul Undong Central Association and its training center, establishing a national food tech cluster, and attracting a specialized complex for defense industry materials, parts, and equipment.
In addition, the city explained the need for securing provincial funding for various projects, such as establishing the Gumi Sports Training Center, expanding the smart factory supply and dissemination project, building the Deul Seong Forest Library, creating the Cheonsaengsan Kids Challenge Park, supporting vouchers and taxi services for pregnant women, constructing the Gumi Cultural Center, establishing a manufacturing startup incubation center, building an AX demonstration industrial complex, and creating an artificial intelligence data space for local small and medium-sized enterprises. The city requested active cooperation from the provincial council.
The attending provincial council members stated, "We will do our best to ensure that the key issues discussed at this meeting are reflected in the provincial budget," and added, "We will continue to provide unwavering support so that Gumi’s core projects are included as major priorities for North Gyeongsang Province."
Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho said, "This meeting was a meaningful opportunity to proactively respond to the deliberation of North Gyeongsang Province’s main budget. I will work closely with the provincial council members to ensure that the key projects discussed are reflected in provincial policy. We will continue to do our utmost, together with the provincial council, to resolve local issues and promote regional development."
