Hansung-sook, Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, met with representatives of defense sector startups at an undisclosed location in Seoul on the 16th to listen to their on-site opinions.

This meeting was organized to discuss the "Defense Sector Startup Development Plan," aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic defense industry. As the digital transformation of the battlefield and the application of advanced technologies have accelerated recently, innovative startups have emerged as key players in the defense industry.

The startup representatives who attended the meeting emphasized the need for various policy supports, including expanding opportunities for startups to enter the defense industry, strengthening growth support policies tailored to the defense sector, and promoting a culture of mutual cooperation within the defense ecosystem.

Minister Han stated, "In the United States and Europe, innovative startups have already attracted investments that surpass the market capitalization of domestic defense conglomerates. We will foster innovative startups that encompass both civilian and military sectors in advanced fields closely related to defense, such as artificial intelligence (AI), drones, and robotics."
