Shinan County in South Jeolla Province discussed the direction of its garden policy to realize the vision of "an island where the entire area is a garden, and the garden becomes art."


The county announced on the 16th that it held the "First Garden Culture Promotion Committee Meeting of 2025" on the 14th to discuss key policy tasks for the promotion of garden culture.


The Garden Culture Promotion Committee is an advisory body established under the "Ordinance on Fostering and Supporting Garden Cities and the Garden Culture Industry in Shinan County." The committee consists of a total of 12 members, including 9 experts from various fields.


During the meeting, a variety of agenda items were discussed, including the status of the "One Island, One Garden" initiative, plans for operating year-round flower festivals, the direction for building a garden city, the Balanced Development 300 Project, and support plans for the Garden Tree Social Cooperative. The committee members emphasized the need to move beyond short-term events and pursue sustainable garden policies that reflect regional characteristics and ecology.


Kim Daein, Acting County Governor of Shinan, stated, "The gardens of Shinan are not merely spaces, but cultural venues where nature, art, and community come together." He added, "We will actively incorporate the committee's proposals into county administration and pursue leading garden policies."
