Shinan County in South Jeolla Province will hold the "2nd Treasure Island Salicornia Festival" for two days from October 24 to 25 at the Taepyeong Salt Farm area in Jeungdo, which was the first Slow City designated in Asia.

According to the county on October 16, this year's festival will take place on a special stage set up inside Taepyeong Salt Farm, the largest single salt farm in Korea. Visitors will be able to enjoy both the approximately 11-hectare habitat of halophyte plants and the vast tidal flats at the same time. As an ecological, hands-on festival blending nature and culture, it is expected to offer a unique autumn atmosphere characteristic of Jeungdo.

Main programs include a saxophone performance, a Treasure Island singing contest for residents and tourists, a stamp tour accompanied by saxophone busking, a treasure hunt event for families, and a traditional salt-making experience at the salt fields. A variety of activities have been prepared for people of all ages to enjoy.

A county official said, "The Treasure Island Salicornia Festival is an ecological and cultural event that brings together nature and people, and it will provide visitors with unforgettable memories. We hope you will come and experience the charm of the autumn sea, the salt farms, and the salicornia for yourself."

Meanwhile, Jeungdo boasts a pristine natural environment and abundant ecological resources such as the Taepyeong Salt Farm and tidal flat wetland protected areas. It is also famous as the excavation site of the Shinan Underwater Ship, a trading vessel from the Goryeo Dynasty. Since being designated as Asia's first Slow City, Jeungdo has established itself as a leading eco-tourism destination in Korea.
