On October 16, Gyeongbuk Province announced that it had received the top prize in the metropolitan government category at the "15th 2025 Korea SNS Awards," solidifying its position as the best local government for SNS communication in Korea for the third consecutive year.
This award is a result of Gyeongbuk Province being recognized externally for presenting a new model of public relations in administration through new media strategies focused on public value, intergenerational empathy, and citizen participation.
The "Korea SNS Awards" is a leading domestic SNS awards ceremony hosted by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT. It comprehensively evaluates the use of social media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram, selecting and awarding companies and public institutions that actively communicate with the public in each category.
This year, 137 organizations participated, and a multifaceted evaluation combining quantitative, expert, and user assessments was conducted to ensure fairness and professionalism.
Gyeongbuk Province has established an integrated operating system connecting platforms such as its official YouTube channel "Boiso TV," Instagram, and Facebook, thereby strengthening real-time communication and expanding the base of policy promotion through emotionally resonant content that everyone can relate to.
In particular, in 2025, the province is conducting new media campaigns centered around five key themes: APEC 2025, "From Gyeongbuk to the World!," AI-based content innovation, the center of heritage and spirit, the root of global K-content, and Gyeongbuk Province as a leader of the era of local autonomy. Through these campaigns, the province is realizing participatory communication administration that connects generations and regions.
In this evaluation, Gyeongbuk Province received high marks for its storytelling centered on public interest messages, the completeness of its content, and its efforts to activate communication. Especially ahead of the APEC summit, the province independently produced and operated a variety of content incorporating AI technology, presenting possibilities for future-oriented administrative public relations.
Additionally, through the "YouTuber Gyeongbuk Travel Group Project," which supported areas affected by wildfires, the province drew warm empathy from people across the country. Through "K-Gyeongbuk" content that modernly reinterpreted traditional cultural elements such as Hanok and Hanbok, Gyeongbuk also promoted the most Korean beauty to the world.
Along with these efforts, practical communication initiatives centered on citizen participation, such as managing comment interactions and participatory events, were also positively evaluated.
Lim Daeseong, spokesperson for Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "Winning the top prize for three consecutive years is the result of sincere communication with our citizens, and it demonstrates that Gyeongbuk's new media administration is trusted by the public. Going forward, we will continue to promote Gyeongbuk’s global status through content that strengthens public value and intergenerational communication."
Meanwhile, Gyeongbuk Province announced plans to further strengthen its position as a leading local government in digital administrative public relations by developing APEC legacy promotion strategies incorporating AI technology in the future.
