Naver and Naver Webtoon will share content and virtual technologies and strengthen their global startup ecosystem network at this year’s UKF event, which will be held in New York, United States, for three days starting October 16 (local time).
The UKF originated from the North American startup network 82 Startup and was officially established as a corporation in April last year. Through its annual startup network events, it continues to facilitate information exchange between entrepreneurs and investors, attract investment, and support global expansion.
On the first day of the event, Kim Joongoo, CEO of Webtoon Entertainment and Naver Webtoon, will give a presentation titled "The Emergence of Webtoons: The Global Rise of a New Storytelling Format." He will introduce the beginnings and growth of Naver Webtoon and share business insights.
From September 9 to 12, Naver Webtoon participated in the "2025 New York Comic Con (NYCC)," where it operated an official booth and showcased original webtoon content as well as globally popular intellectual property (IP) content from major North American publishing partners. CEO Kim Joongoo stated, "Content is evolving alongside technology, connecting readers and creators around the world," adding, "We will continue to contribute to the globalization of webtoons and the expansion of the creative ecosystem."
On the final day of the event, Oh Han-gi, leader of Naver Real-Time Engine Studio, and Song Ji-cheol, leader of Naver Prism Studio, will co-host a session titled "The Virtual Era: How Virtual Content Comes to Life." They will share how Naver’s proactive development of XR production technology and the live streaming app Prism have enabled the company to respond to changes in the virtual creator market and become a global leader.
In the session "K-Virtual Hunters: The Challenge of Entrepreneurs Who Captivated the World," startup CEOs invested in by Naver D2SF will participate. Led by moderator Oh Han-gi, the discussion will focus on global virtual trends, opportunities, and growth potential from the perspective of entrepreneurs.
Naver plans to continuously expand its video content ecosystem based on its proprietary media technology. The Vision Stage and Motion Stage, established at the company’s headquarters building 1784 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, provide a hyper-realistic XR production environment, support specialized technology and personnel for high-quality 3D content production, and realize an immersive media platform.
Naver CEO Choi Sooyoun stated, "Through D2SF and other initiatives, Naver supports the growth and global expansion of domestic startups, and is further strengthening its global network by sponsoring UKF. Going forward, we will actively seek ways to grow together with talented entrepreneurs."
