Northern Gyeongsangbuk-do's Medical Safety Net Reaffirmed
Top Marks Achieved in Both Patient Safety and Quality of Care
Andong Hospital, operated by the Andong Medical Foundation, has received the "4th Cycle Medical Institution Certification" from the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
This certification is awarded only to top-tier general hospitals nationwide that meet both patient safety and quality of care standards, reaffirming Andong Hospital's status as a key medical institution in northern Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The medical institution certification system was introduced to foster a patient-centered treatment environment and provide safe medical services, with the goal of continuously improving healthcare quality through the voluntary participation of medical institutions across the country.
The 4th cycle certification is valid from 2025 to 2029 and is granted only after passing a rigorous process that requires meeting all criteria in four areas, 13 chapters, 92 standards, and 512 assessment items: ▲basic value system ▲patient care system ▲organizational management system ▲performance management system.
In preparation for the evaluation, all staff at Andong Hospital thoroughly reviewed the patient safety system and strengthened infection control protocols, ensuring comprehensive readiness across all departments.
In particular, the hospital received high marks for patient safety assurance, quality improvement operations, and infection prevention management, solidifying its role as the final stronghold for emergency, critical, and essential medical care in the region.
Kang Sinhong, Chairman of Andong Hospital, stated, "This certification is the result of all our employees prioritizing patient safety and continuously striving to enhance the quality of care," adding, "We will continue to focus all our efforts on becoming the most trusted and accessible hospital for the local community."
Meanwhile, Andong Hospital serves as an implementing institution for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Comprehensive Secondary General Hospital Project" and has received an S grade for three consecutive years in the "Emergency Medical Contribution Evaluation," establishing itself as the ultimate medical safety net for emergency, critical, and essential care in northern Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The 4th cycle certification for Andong Hospital is seen not simply as passing an evaluation, but as a symbolic achievement that has elevated the standards of regional healthcare.
The next five years, centered on the pillars of "trust and safety," are highly anticipated for what Andong Hospital will accomplish.
