Ministry of Culture and Korea Creative Content Agency to Host Awards at National Theater on October 22-23
Jung Donghwan, Bae Hansung, and Jeon Yuseong Also Receive Order of Cultural Merit
Presidential Commendations for Kim Mikyung, Lee Minho, TVXQ, and Others

Actors Kim Haesook and Lee Byunghun, as well as singer G-Dragon (Kwon Jiyong), will be awarded the Order of Cultural Merit at this year's Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on October 15 that the Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards and the Popular Culture and Arts Production Staff Awards will be held consecutively at the National Theater on October 22 and 23. This event will highlight not only the artists on stage but also the production staff who have contributed to enhancing the quality of the works behind the scenes.
This year, the Order of Cultural Merit will be awarded to six individuals: actors Kim Haesook, Lee Byunghun, Jung Donghwan, voice actor Bae Hansung, the late comedian Jeon Yuseong, and singer G-Dragon. Kim Haesook will receive the Silver Crown Order of Cultural Merit in recognition of her popularity and contributions to numerous box office hits since her debut in 1975. Lee Byunghun will be honored with the Precious Crown Order of Cultural Merit for his profound acting and achievements in expanding into overseas markets, while Jung Donghwan will receive the same honor for broadening the horizons of popular culture based on classical literature and philosophy.
The Jade Crown Order of Cultural Merit will be awarded to voice actor Bae Hansung, the late Jeon Yuseong, and G-Dragon. Bae Hansung, known as the "man of a thousand voices," has contributed to the development of the voice acting industry, while Jeon Yuseong, as a broadcast comedy writer and producer, has nurtured younger talents and promoted regional culture. G-Dragon is recognized for his role in spreading the Korean Wave and globalizing Korean popular culture.
The Presidential Commendation will be awarded to seven individuals or teams: actors Kim Mikyung, Lee Minho, Lee Jungeun, singers TVXQ, Ros? (Blackpink), Seventeen, and voice actor Kim Eunyoung. The Prime Minister's Commendation will go to eight individuals or teams: actors Kim Jiwon, Kim Taeri, Park Boyoung, Park Haejoon, Ju Jihoon, singers Twice, Ateez, and musician Choi Heeseon.
The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation will be given to ten individuals or teams: actors Go Yoonjung, Byun Wooseok, Ji Changwook, Chu Youngwoo, singers Le Sserafim, (G)I-dle, Riize, Zerobaseone, comedian Lee Suji, and choreographer Bebe.
At the Popular Culture and Arts Production Staff Awards, four individuals from "When Life Gives You Tangerines"-art director Ryu Seonghee, sound director Park Seongil, editing director Jo Inhyeong, and DIT Ok Imsik-will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation. The Korea Creative Content Agency President's Award will go to six individuals: lighting director Na Jaehee, makeup director Park Ina, special effects director An Heesu, costume director Tak Eunju, stage art director Kang Pilsoo, and lighting director Lee Sanghyun.
An official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "This year's awards ceremony carries the message of 'a festival that shines a light on both the front and back of the stage,'" adding, "It will be an occasion to celebrate the achievements of K-content together and to share the hard work of the production staff, who support the field, with the public."
