World’s Top Female Golfers Head to Haenam

LPGA BMW Ladies Championship to Be Held at Pine Beach CC
Tournament Runs from October 16 to 19; Jeonnam Province Showcases Namdo’s Appeal

The world’s top female golfers are gathering in Haenam, Jeonnam Province.


According to Jeonnam Province on October 15, the LPGA BMW Ladies Championship will be held at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam from October 16 to 19. This is the first time an official LPGA Tour event is being held in the Honam region, and it will be broadcast live in over 170 countries worldwide.


The tournament will feature global stars representing each continent, including Minjee Lee, ranked fourth in the world and a two-time major champion; Ko Jin-young, Kim Hyo-joo, and Yoo Hae-ran from Korea; Brooke Henderson from Canada; Miyu Yamashita from Japan; and Maja Stark from Sweden.


In particular, Lee Jeong-eun6 has joined as a special invitee upon recommendation by Jeonnam Province, bringing further attention to Haenam as a new focal point of women’s golf worldwide.


Jeonnam Province sees this tournament as a golden opportunity to showcase the region’s appeal to the world. At the venue, promotional booths will be set up for the Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo, the Yeosu World Island Expo, and the Jeonnam Tour Program, highlighting Jeonnam’s agricultural, marine, and livestock products, tourism resources, and international events.


Additionally, welcome kits-including “K-Jeonnam Gim” (seaweed)-will be presented to foreign players, and local specialties such as abalone will be used as ingredients in the players’ dining facilities, offering a taste of Jeonnam’s unique flavors and quality on the global stage.


Yoo Hyunho, Director of Tourism and Sports at Jeonnam Province, stated, “As world-class athletes swing against the wind and waves of Haenam, Jeonnam’s nature and culture will resonate around the globe. We hope that this LPGA tournament will serve as a springboard for Jeonnam to become a global sports hub and that the charms of Namdo will leave a lasting impression worldwide.”
