Jindo County in South Jeolla Province has officially launched the construction project for dormitories for nursing and welfare personnel in rural and fishing villages, aiming to address medical service gaps in these areas and ensure stable settlement for nursing and welfare workers.

On October 14 at 2 p.m., the county held a safety prayer ceremony on a site near Jindo County Office, wishing for the successful completion of the project and accident-free construction. The event was attended by over 100 people, including Kim Heesoo, Governor of Jindo County, Park Geumrye, Chairperson of the County Council, heads of local organizations, and residents.

This project will invest a total of 6.7 billion won (2.4 billion won from the provincial government, 2 billion won from the county, and 2.3 billion won from the Local Extinction Response Fund) to build a four-story dormitory with 30 rooms. Each unit will be a 32-square-meter studio, offered at a rental price lower than the local market rate, which is expected to help reduce the housing burden for nursing and welfare personnel.

Governor Kim Heesoo stated, "This dormitory construction project, the second of its kind in South Jeolla Province, will dramatically improve the living conditions for rural medical personnel," adding, "We will do our utmost to realize 'Jindo, the Island of Hope and Treasure,' by attracting young people and enhancing local medical services."

Meanwhile, construction of the Jindo County dormitory for nursing and welfare personnel began with the safety prayer ceremony and is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026.
