Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Iri City and Iksan County Merger
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will host the 'Dairom Concert' at the Yucheon Ecological Wetland Eoulrim Square area on October 18 and 19 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the merger between Iri City and Iksan County.
According to the city on October 15, the 'Dairom Concert' is a field-based performance program where the municipal arts troupes visit different regions, set up outdoor stages, and interact with citizens.
This concert has established itself as a cultural event that alleviates citizens' cultural thirst and revitalizes various parts of the region. This year, it will be held as part of the 'Citizen Harmony Grand Festival' celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Iri City and Iksan County merger, and will take place at the Yucheon Ecological Wetland, a popular relaxation spot for citizens.
The concert will begin at 5 p.m. on the first day, October 18, and at 2 p.m. on the second day, October 19. The Iksan Municipal Dance Troupe, Choir, and Traditional Percussion Troupe will participate, presenting a variety of performances.
The Municipal Dance Troupe will energize the audience with Janggu and Beokku dances, while the Municipal Choir will perform popular and classical songs. The Municipal Traditional Percussion Troupe will heighten the excitement with Janggu performances and Pungmul (traditional Korean percussion ensemble) acts.
A city official stated, "This concert will be a special stage where citizens can come together and share in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the merger," adding, "We will continue to promote outreach performances and arts programs so that citizens can easily enjoy culture in their daily lives."
Meanwhile, Iri City and Iksan County were merged on May 10, 1995, to form Iksan City, which has since grown into an urban-rural complex city harmonizing both urban and rural communities.
