A man in his 50s was arrested by the police after assaulting his neighbor with a blunt object.
On October 15, the Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced that it had applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, a man in his 50s, on charges of aggravated assault.
Mr. A is accused of repeatedly striking Mr. B, also in his 50s and a resident of the same apartment complex, on the head and abdomen with a mop handle at the playground of a middle school in Buk-gu, Gwangju, at around 7:50 p.m. on October 13.
According to the investigation, Mr. A was intoxicated at the time, called Mr. B on the phone to meet him, and then assaulted him. It was found that Mr. A had previously had a conflict with Mr. B after making harsh remarks to Mr. B's son-in-law in the apartment complex, and committed the crime out of resentment.
The police are investigating Mr. A, who has a prior record of similar offenses, for any additional crimes.
