Pyeongchang County Expands Fixed Health Care Subsidy for Newborns to 1 Million Won

Pyeongchang County in Gangwon Province will increase its health care subsidy for families with newborns from a maximum of 500,000 won on a reimbursement basis to a fixed amount of 1 million won.

Pyeongchang County Expands Fixed Health Care Subsidy for Newborns to 1 Million Won Pyeongchang County Office building.

This expanded support is based on a partial amendment to the "Ordinance on Pregnancy and Childbirth Support in Pyeongchang County," and will apply to families with children born on or after September 26, 2025. As a result, the economic burden on families with newborns is expected to be significantly reduced.

This policy is based on a partial amendment to the "Ordinance on Pregnancy and Childbirth Support in Pyeongchang County." Eligible recipients are mothers who have resided in Pyeongchang County for at least one year as of the date of childbirth. If the period of residence is less than one year, applications can be submitted within two months after fulfilling the one-year residency requirement.

Mothers who have lived in the county for more than one year can apply through their local town or township office, while those who have lived there for less than one year should apply to the Health Promotion Division of the Pyeongchang County Health Center after meeting the residency requirement.

Park Geonhee, Director of the Health Center, stated, "This is an active measure to reduce the financial burden on families with newborns and to create a healthy environment for childrearing. It will provide practical support for the health management of both mothers and newborns."
