Energizing the Local Economy with Fashion Shows, Gourmet Zone, and Experience Zone
Yangcheon District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Gijae) will host the 29th Mokdong Rodeo Fashion Street Cultural Festival on October 18 in the Mokdong Rodeo Street area. This year’s festival, held under the theme “Fashion & Re:Style,” is expected to become a cultural venue where the local commercial district and residents come together around the central theme of fashion.
The Mokdong Rodeo Fashion Street, located near Mokdong Station on Subway Line 5, is a major local commercial district known for its concentration of outlet stores featuring outdoor, golf, and casual brands. The district has leveraged the symbolic status and fashion image of this area to promote local economic revitalization and a festival driven by resident participation.
The event will be organized into four themed zones: Fashion Zone, Gourmet Zone, Experience Zone, and Art Zone. In the Fashion Zone, an outdoor runway fashion show will be held with clothing sponsored by Mokdong Rodeo merchants, featuring both local resident models and professional models. Singers Yoo Gayoung, Sung Yubin, and Park Mikyung will perform celebratory acts to enhance the festival atmosphere.
The Gourmet Zone will offer a variety of foods, including food trucks, craft beer, and caf? desserts, with youth-run stores adding a vibrant energy. The Experience Zone will feature activity spaces tailored to different generations, ranging from K-fashion accessory making and K-pop idol makeup experiences for younger attendees to a style lounge for middle-aged and older visitors.
The Art Zone will include a handmade craft market, street busking performances, and photo zones, adding to the festival’s artistic ambiance and leisurely mood. Notably, the Sustainable Fashion Booth, in collaboration with Goodwill Store Yangcheon Branch, will issue donation receipts on-site for clothing donations and provide simple clothing repair services, aiming to promote an eco-friendly consumption culture.
Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, “The Mokdong Rodeo Fashion Street Cultural Festival is a signature local event where fashion, culture, and communication among people come alive. We will continue to revitalize the local economy and spread Yangcheon District’s unique commercial culture through festivals created jointly by residents and merchants.”
