"200km Range Enables Intercity Travel... China Unveils Electric Air Mobility"

Ehang Unveils New Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircraft
"Price and Performance Up"

Chinese electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) manufacturer Ehang has unveiled its new model, the VT-35, which boasts a range of 200 kilometers. This is the company's first commercial aircraft designed for intercity travel, expanding beyond urban air mobility (UAM) technology.

According to the Chinese business media outlet Caixin, Ehang announced the new VT-35 on October 13. This two-seater model is priced at approximately 6.5 million yuan (about 1.3 billion won), which is more than twice as expensive as the company's previous flagship product, the EH216-S.

Listed on the Nasdaq, Ehang is a leading company in the urban air mobility sector. In March 2025, together with its joint venture Hefei Hey Aviation, Ehang became the first in the world to receive operational certification for autonomous passenger drones from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Last year, the company received commercial flight approval for the EH216-S, opening the door to the commercialization of pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.

The newly released VT-35 extends its range to 200 kilometers, enabling intercity travel. It is equipped with 16 propellers and electric motors and takes 120 minutes to fully charge. The aircraft can carry two passengers or up to 260 kilograms of cargo, flying at a speed of 130 kilometers per hour for 25 minutes. Ehang explained, "The compact airframe design enhances landing stability, and takeoff and landing are possible in locations such as parks, rooftops, and outdoor parking lots."

The VT-35 is permitted to provide paid passenger services within approved airspace in China. Ehang is the only company to have obtained all four major certifications: type certification, production certification, airworthiness certification, and the piloted civil unmanned aerial vehicle operation certificate (OC). Currently, hundreds of units have been sold and are about to enter commercial operation.

Support from local Chinese governments is also underway. In August, Hefei city in Anhui Province signed an investment agreement with Ehang and plans to establish the production and operations headquarters for the VT-35 series in Hefei.
