Opening New Avenues for Global Cooperation
Connecting Industry and People
On October 14, Changwon Special City held the "Changwon City-Colombia Exchange Meeting for Expanding the Global Trade Network" at the Changwon Grand Mercure Ambassador Hotel, where participants engaged in in-depth discussions on strengthening industrial and trade cooperation, as well as establishing the Changwon Global Business Center (GBC) as a base for Latin America.
The meeting was attended by more than 40 key figures, including Alejandro Pelaez Rodriguez, Ambassador of Colombia to Korea, senior officials from the central and regional governments of Colombia, Changwon National University, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, and Gyeongsangnam-do Province, further solidifying the practical foundation for cooperation between the two countries.
Participants formed a consensus on "people-centered trade diplomacy" in this venue for exchange across all sectors of industry and the economy, confirming that this meeting would mark the true starting point for practical cooperation in industry and trade.
Park Jinyeol, Director of Economic and Employment Affairs, stated, "The Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez said, 'What matters in life is not what happens to you, but how you remember it and how you tell it.' I hope today's meeting becomes the beginning of a partnership that both countries will remember and talk about."
He added, "Changwon City will use the Global Business Center (GBC) overseas bases as a key bridgehead for entering the Latin American market, providing comprehensive support for local companies to diversify exports and pioneer overseas markets, and further strengthening the trade network between the two countries."
Meanwhile, Changwon Special City has designated and operates Global Business Centers in 17 locations across 14 countries, including India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia, and Japan. These centers support local export companies in entering overseas markets and play a role in facilitating trade missions (such as delegations and technical teams) and cooperation in trade-related work abroad.
