Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will host the 'Singal Five-way Intersection Urban Regeneration Street Art Festival' on October 25 in the section between Giheunggyo Bridge and Galcheongyo Bridge along Singalcheon Stream.
Held as part of the Singal Five-way Intersection Urban Regeneration Project, the festival is a cultural and arts event that brings together citizens and local cultural resources.
This festival, organized in cooperation with the Yongin Cultural Foundation and the Department of Street Arts Performance at the Graduate School of Culture and Arts at Yongin University, will feature professional performance teams presenting a variety of street art performances in different genres.
The festival will showcase performances such as: Creation Center Dandi's 'Urban Flower', Yusangtong Project's 'Sound Circus', Suzik's 'FORCE', Team Clown's 'Gyeongsang-do Bubble', and popular singer John Park.
In addition, citizen participation programs will be offered, including: cultural and arts experiences by the Yongin Cultural Foundation's Art Runner, street performances by 'I'm Busker' artists from the Yongin Cultural Foundation, and participatory art projects with the Children's Nalda Social Cooperative.
The event will also feature various local participation programs, such as food booths run directly by local merchants, youth club performances by Singal High School and Singal Youth Culture House, and traditional arts performances by the Department of Korean Traditional Music at Yongin University.
On-site, there will be ESG experiential activities by Singal Imdang and Galnae Village Docent, both urban regeneration village communities in Singal, as well as a village travel experience booth where visitors can decorate with stamps.
To promote environmental protection, all food sold at the food trucks and food booths at the event will be served in reusable containers. Used containers should be returned to the designated return booths.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "This festival will serve as a cultural regeneration platform that integrates various urban elements such as art, culture, history, and revitalization of local businesses in the Singal Five-way Intersection area. We will continue our efforts so that citizens can enjoy culture and arts in their daily lives and the community can grow together."
