Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that it has been finally selected in the '2025 Local Stream New Policy Audition' contest hosted by Gyeonggi Province.

This contest was promoted by Gyeonggi Province to move beyond simple flood prevention-focused stream maintenance and to improve residential conditions and boost local vitality by creating community spaces centered around local streams.
The city applied for the contest to create a walking trail along Usan Stream, a local stream located in Dosu-ri, Toechon-myeon, and was finally selected after the contest presentation on September 30. As a result, the city secured about 400 million won in provincial funding, which is 50% of the project cost, as well as a 20 million won reward.
The city plans to invest a total of 800 million won to expand waterfront spaces by installing a 213-meter deck road and night lighting, and to improve accessibility to nearby sports facilities and the Gyeongan Stream Ecological Wetland Park. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
Mayor Bang Sehwan said, "I would like to thank the staff of the relevant departments for their hard work, which has led to continuous achievements following the comprehensive disaster management project in the Chowol District. With the creation of this walking trail, I expect that local residents will be able to use the stream area more comfortably and that accessibility to public facilities will be further improved."
