The opening ceremony, held on October 2, was attended by Baek Younghyun, mayor of Pocheon, Lee Soohee, head of Gangdong-gu District Office, the heads of the five residents' self-governing councils in Gangdong-gu, as well as members of the Pocheon Agricultural Products Permanent Store Shippers' Association (represented by Kim Cheonbok).
This newly opened store is the first sales outlet for Pocheon agricultural specialties to be established in Seoul, and it will be operated by the Pocheon Agricultural Foundation under a consignment agreement. It is expected to provide local farmers with a stable sales channel, while offering Gangdong-gu residents an easy and affordable way to access fresh, high-quality agricultural products from Pocheon.
In June of last year, Pocheon City and Gangdong-gu signed a mutual cooperation agreement for co-prosperity and development, pledging to collaborate in various fields such as the economy, tourism, and administration. Following this, Pocheon City signed a lease agreement for space in the public complex building in Cheonho 3-dong, which was completed in October last year, and established 'Pocheon Gadeuk' as a permanent sales center for agricultural specialties.
Going forward, the city plans to hold direct sales discount events for outstanding agricultural specialties, as well as special seasonal promotions for grapes, apples, and ginseng. Additional events will include parcel delivery promotions for Pocheon Idong Galbi and Pocheon Makgeolli.
Baek Younghyun, mayor of Pocheon, stated, "The temporary opening in September received a great response and strong sales from Gangdong-gu residents. We plan to supply fresh agricultural specialties three to four times a week through the collection center established in Pocheon. Based on this momentum, we intend to expand and operate permanent stores in Seoul, targeting areas with high demand."
