National Assembly Planning and Finance Committee Audit
"Policies on Demand to Be Announced"
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yoon-chul stated on the 13th that, regarding the third real estate policy package of the Lee Jaemyung administration, the government will soon announce policies related to demand and will also clarify the direction of real estate taxation.
At the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee audit held that morning, Deputy Prime Minister Koo said about the real estate policy, "We plan to announce it soon," adding, "While we will accelerate supply as much as possible, we will also introduce policies that can be implemented on the demand side."
Regarding the possibility of tax reform being included in this policy package, Deputy Prime Minister Koo commented, "It seems that we will announce the direction related to taxation." This has been interpreted to mean that measures to ease the tax burden or to revitalize transactions may be included.

Concerning President Lee Jaemyung's previous remark during his presidential campaign that he would not try to control housing prices through taxation, Koo explained, "This does not mean that we would not use tax policy at all, but rather that we would use it only as a last resort whenever possible."
The government's upcoming real estate policy is expected to focus on striking a balance between expanding supply and stabilizing the market.
