Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province will host the "Patriotic Martyrs Day Cultural and Experiential Program" at the Hwaseong Independence Movement Memorial Hall on November 16. The event aims to honor the noble sacrifices of local patriotic martyrs and to pass down the historical significance of Hwaseong's independence movement.
Patriotic Martyrs Day is a national memorial day designated on November 17 each year to honor independence activists and patriots who sacrificed their lives for the independence and restoration of national sovereignty of the Republic of Korea.
This program will explore the historical tragedy of the Jeam-ri and Gojuri massacres and offer a cultural and experiential educational activity. Participants can copy the writings of local independence activists onto a lampshade, decorate it with Taegeukgi and Mugunghwa stickers, and complete their own unique lamp.
The program is open to families, including children, and participants can register in advance through the Hwaseong City Integrated Reservation System from October 14 to November 14. If the program is not fully booked, on-site registration will also be available. There is no participation fee.
