A Night Festival Sharing Flavors and Culture
on a Car-Free Street
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju will host the '2025 Gwangsan World Night Market,' an event created together by long-term residents and immigrants, on October 18 along Magnolia-ro in Wolgok-dong. The festival will take place on a car-free street from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
According to Gwangsan-gu on October 12, this year's festival will feature 19 community groups from countries including Vietnam, China, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Cambodia, India, and Turkey. The main programs include a world traditional costume parade, cultural performances such as the Ao Dai Non La dance, a talk show with comedian Kim Yongmyung, and the 'Wolgok Alley Tour,' which explores the Koryoin Village and Wolgok Market.
On site, there will be spaces for trying on traditional costumes, experiencing games from around the world, and relaxing in bean bag healing zones, creating an immersive festival atmosphere. Around 80 food booths and experience zones will use reusable containers, aiming to operate the event as an eco-friendly festival without single-use items.
Park Byungkyu, head of Gwangsan-gu Office, stated, "The Gwangsan World Night Market is a festival where long-term residents and immigrants communicate and come together." He added, "We will do our best to help it grow into a global festival representing Gwangju."
