Gwanak District Produces “Integrated Care Guide” for Practitioners... Strengthening On-Site Capabilities

Systematic Response Ahead of Next Year’s Implementation of the Integrated Care Support Act

Gwanak District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Junhee) announced on October 12 that it has produced an “Integrated Care Guide” to help on-site practitioners actively respond to policy changes in line with the nationwide implementation of the “Integrated Care Support Act” scheduled for March next year.

“Integrated Care (Community Care)” is a policy in which the central government and local governments cooperate to provide comprehensive, coordinated services-including healthcare, nursing, care, daily living, and housing support-so that residents in need of care can enjoy a healthy old age in their own communities.

Gwanak District has been developing a “customized integrated care model” to address its high population of elderly residents and single-person households. With the publication of this guide, practitioners will be able to systematically understand various case studies and policy changes and utilize them in the field.

The guide focuses on five key areas: healthcare, health, nursing and care, housing, and the Gwanak-style integrated care model. It organizes major care services provided by both public and private sectors by category. In particular, it presents information such as service beneficiaries, eligibility, procedures, and responsible departments at a glance, thereby improving practitioners’ work efficiency.

The district has distributed the guide in booklet form to the district office and 21 local community centers, and has also made it available as a PDF file so that on-site public officials can refer to it at any time.

Meanwhile, the district regularly holds case meetings and roundtable discussions for integrated care recipients to reflect practitioners’ opinions in policy and to strengthen public-private cooperation, thereby minimizing gaps in care.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak District, stated, “The publication of this guide will serve as an opportunity to improve practitioners’ policy understanding and capabilities ahead of the implementation of the Integrated Care Support Act. We will continue to provide accurate and effective services to care recipients and further strengthen the ‘Gwanak-style integrated care system.’”
