"Israeli Military Begins Withdrawal from Gaza City and Other Areas"

"Israeli Military Begins Withdrawal from Gaza City and Other Areas" Yonhap News Agency

The Israeli military has reportedly begun withdrawing from several areas in the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City.

On October 10, Yonhap News Agency and other foreign media outlets, citing sources from the Gaza Strip Civil Defense, reported that "the Israeli military has withdrawn from Gaza City and several other areas."

A senior official from the Civil Defense also added, "Some Israeli military vehicles have withdrawn from the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip."

This withdrawal follows an agreement between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas on the first phase of the peace initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Israeli cabinet approved the first phase of the peace initiative early this morning. Accordingly, the Israeli military must withdraw from designated areas of the Gaza Strip within 24 hours. Over the following 72 hours, Hamas is to release approximately 20 surviving hostages, while the bodies of deceased hostages will be handed over in stages at a later time.
