On the morning of October 12, the "2025 Seoul Race Marathon" will take place, resulting in traffic control on major roads in downtown Seoul, including Sejong-daero, Jongno, and Cheonggyecheon-ro.
On October 10, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it will implement sequential traffic control measures according to the progress of marathon runners participating in the "2025 Seoul Race Marathon."
The police plan to restrict traffic on Sejong-daero and Jongno, which serve as the marathon’s gathering and starting points, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. on the day of the event. Cheonggye-ro will be controlled in sections from 8:10 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. However, some sections of Euljiro will be excluded from the marathon course to minimize inconvenience for citizens.
In addition, the police will deploy approximately 740 traffic police officers and marathon event traffic management personnel to guide vehicles to detour routes.
The authorities will also install 509 signs and banners to inform the public in advance about the traffic control sections. The Seoul city government will temporarily adjust bus routes within the controlled areas.
A police official stated, "We ask that citizens traveling near the marathon course use public transportation such as the subway, and that vehicles operating in the controlled sections take long-distance detours and follow the hand signals of traffic police officers."
